So Many Options, One Obvious Choice
John Deere Motor Grader Configuration Options
The John Deere G Series Motor Graders are an evolution of John Deere’s proven and highly regarded graders. Sold exclusively through Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA), the machines were designed and built in the USA by John Deere, the company that built the first articulated grader, the G Series introduces a number of enhancements which will finally satisfy both the operator and the service teams.
Satisfying the Operator
The G Series lets you decide how the work gets done. Choose from the traditional mechanical controls or the Grade Pro system with low effort, arm rest mounted fingertip controls. Both these control systems use the familiar industry standard layout while keeping a traditional steering wheel. The Grade Pro system gives the operator the choice of using lever steering or the steering wheel so they can choose their preferred steering method to allow them to maintain travel speeds when fine grading or roading.
In addition the Grade Pro provides productivity enhancing features such as cross slope, integrated grade control and automatic return to straight. Automatically controlling the blade enables experienced and new operators to be more productive. Grade Pro also allows for the seamless integration of your preferred laser control system.
The 672, 772 and 872 G and GP models feature six wheel drive allowing the operator to set the front wheels to turn at the same speed, faster or slower than the rear tandems. More and more contractors are finding that a smaller grader with a six wheel drive can do the work of a larger tandem drive machine.
Large capacity Tier 3 compliant engines with common rail fuel injection and variable geometry turbochargers are used on all models. With high torque, the G series are able to keep pushing under heavy loads while still providing low running costs. To make use of all this extra torque John Deere uses an automatic diff lock that allows the diff lock to be engaged and automatically disconnect when turning.
The G Series uses the smoothest shifting powershift transmission on the market. With Event Based Shifting it senses the load on the engine as well as other inputs to determine the optimum shift time when the operator selects a new gear. Coupled with automatic transmission, ensuring all-day operator comfort.
Satisfying the Service Team
Serviceability has been improved on the G series; John Deere’s NeverGrease™ technology provides greaseless pin joints in many locations reducing greasing by 56% as well as keeping joints tighter for longer more productive operation. All daily checks and refuelling can be done from ground level for ease of service.
The transmission, axle oil, and hydraulic filters have been grouped with diagnostic sample ports in a convenient space for ease of service and lower cost of ownership. With adjustable mouldboard wear inserts, you can return to factory specs in minutes for greater precision particularly when using laser control systems.
Swing out coolers and the hydraulic reversing fan allows for easy cleaning. The fan has variable speeds for lower bystander and operator noise levels, lower fuel consumption and faster engine warm up.
The colour LCD monitor gives push button access to a wealth of machine information including vital and general operating conditions, diagnostic codes and can also be equipped with the optional rear view camera for improved rear visibility. The monitor can be positioned directly in front of the operator or on the right hand ROPS post, both locations in front of the operator for convenience.
The sealed switch module activates all functions as well as providing keyless start and anti-theft security. Each operator can be set up with their own access code allowing usage to be monitored where desired. The switches are sealed keeping dirt, dust and moisture out for greater reliability.
