Australias first Hitachi ZX55U-5 mini excavator delivered to Pace Earthworks
Since their release into the Australian market in early 2013, the new Hitachi Zaxis-5 mini excavators have infiltrated construction sites across the country.
Pace Earthworks were the first to take delivery of a new machine with the purchase of a ZX55U-5.
The company entered the construction game three years ago and now undertakes a multitude of civil excavation works.
Activities include stormwater drainage, rail and substations, as well as roads, carparks and commercial construction.
Business owner Craig Pace couldn’t wait to get his hands on the new Hitachi mini after experience with the previous model.
“I bought the Hitachi ZX50U-2 mini with 4000 hours on the clock and sold it at 6000 hours,” he said. “I was really happy with it, but as soon as I heard about the new model, I knew I had to upgrade.”
The new excavator is outperforming on every job, showing off its incredible power and swing speed.
“I wanted the new ZX55U-5 as the Hitachi’s are known for their quick and smooth movement and ability to work in tight areas,” said Craig.
“Apart from fitting perfectly on the back of the truck, it is a great all-round machine that can still do the big stuff like digging out of carparks.
“There were also significant improvements in the new model including a larger, more comfortable cab with an improved air-conditioning system, a tilting cab for easy servicing and a cooling system preventing the machine from overheating on hot days.”
When asking Craig about how his new excavator is performing, he mentioned overall machine reliability and support from Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia as being first-rate.
“I’ve already put over 800 hours on it and it’s going strong! Our sales representative Glenn Foord always provides quality service and follows up regularly to see how things are travelling – I’ve been telling all my mates to go and buy a Hitachi!”
