Bell Tour 2012 in South Africa
On November 13th 2011, a select number of Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) customers departed for the annual visit of the Bell Equipment manufacturing facility in South Africa.
Over the duration of the trip, customers visited many key facilities crucial to the manufacture and distribution of Bell Equipment. The first stop was the Bell Global Logistics Centre in Johannesburg which is the main distribution warehouse for spare parts as well as the distribution outlet for parts to HCA. The next stop was Bell’s manufacturing facility located in Richard’s Bay where customers were given insight into how Bell machines are produced.
A highlight of the trip was a tour of the Bell Farm on the outskirts of Richard’s Bay, which is the original site of the Bell Equipment Factory.
Customers were given the opportunity to drive a Bell B50D Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) around the challenging test track. Expert operators also offered technical instruction and demonstrated the capabilities of the machine.
The tour schedule also offered customers an amazing opportunity to experience the rich and diverse culture of South Africa. Places of interest included the Thanda Private Game Reserve where customers were accommodated in a luxury safari lodge within the midst of Africa’s vibrant wildlife.
Customers also visited the Wild Cat Park and Ushaka Marine World, which added another element to the cultural experience.
