Hitachi Hits Vegas
MINEXPO INTERNATIONAL 2012 in Las Vegas played host to the world’s major mining equipment manufacturers. Expanding over 80,000m2 of exhibition space and featuring around 1800 exhibitors, the event proved the perfect venue to launch the new Hitachi EH5000AC-3 rigid dump truck and SkyAngle camera technology.
The EH5000AC-3 is Hitachi Construction Machinery’s largest rigid dump truck and has been viewed by many as one of the most sophisticated mining haulers to enter the market. It incorporates a Cummins QSKTTA60-CE diesel engine that generates 2,125 kW (2,850 hp) at 1,900 rpm to deliver unrivalled performance.
Key features of the EH5000AC-3 include the all-hydraulic actuated braking system for precise braking control and greater responsiveness, the new IGBT AC Drive System, as well as improved utilisation of slip/slide, pitch and skid controls for optimised stability, efficiency and reliability.
The unveiling of the new SkyAngle peripheral vision support system demonstrated Hitachi’s ongoing commitment to safety. The monitoring system comprises strategically mounted cameras providing operators with a comprehensive ‘birds-eye’ view of the machine perimeter. This enables operators to switch between “wide-range view” and “close-range view” modes to evaluate the position of surrounding machinery or service vehicles.
As a company at the forefront of the mining industry, innovation and product development continue to drive Hitachi toward releasing safer, more advanced, and more productive earthmoving equipment.
