A specialist in concrete, garden and building supplies, Midway is a family owned company servicing the northern, western and inner suburbs of Melbourne for the past 35 years. Starting out as a small mini mix and garden supplies business, Midway is now known as a one-stop-shop for all concrete accessories, tools and garden supplies. With three plant locations in Melton, South Morang and Laverton North which is home to the largest concrete display in Victoria constructed on a 20,000 square metre land.

To date, Midway Concrete own three Hitachi wheel Loaders, with the recent purchase of a fourth Hitachi ZW140-5 wheel loader to add to their orange construction family. The Hitachi ZW140-5 features an engine power of 113kW, an industry first 5 speed transmission, ease of control, high maintainability and operator comfort which boosts efficiency on any given job site.
Midway owner David Boxshall’s first Hitachi purchase was made 15 years ago with plans to ‘update their other branded machines to the Hitachi brand due to the reliability of the machines, exceptional customer service and credits his long-term relationship with Hitachi’s National Used Equipment Manager Cameron Taylor’ further adding that dealing with the Hitachi team is always easy.
The machines have contributed to the business' success.
As a company who will not comprise on quality, David believes the reliability and performance of the machines have contributed to the success of Midway Concrete and Garden Supplies. Machines owned by Midway operate consistently around the clock; 80 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, so reliability and performance of the machines are at the forefront of their business requirement. The previous Hitachi machine that Midway purchased did 9000 hours in 3 years with no major breakdown, so the team at Midway have full confidence in the Hitachi product.

Six years in the Army.
Now a fourth-year apprentice in Toowoomba.
Taleisha didn’t come into the trades the traditional way. After serving in the Army, she began her apprenticeship elsewhere but felt she wasn’t getting the hands-on experience needed to properly build her skills.
That changed when she joined the team.
Today her weeks can include new builds in the workshop, site work at mines, or jobs at local quarries. She works on loaders and mining equipment, services machines, installs pumps and supports major builds — backed by formal OEM training and experienced technicians around her.
Like every apprentice, she has made mistakes. On one job she damaged a seal during installation. She reported it straight away. The team worked through what happened and how to correct it.
That is how competence is built.
Six months ago, she completed her first solo service on a customer machine. It was a small milestone, but an important one — proof of progress and trust earned.
No two days look the same. That is what she values most.
Her focus now is finishing her apprenticeship and continuing her career as a tradesperson long term.
