Newly introduced to the mining industry, the EX8000-7 is Hitachi’s largest standard backhoe excavator, guaranteeing the utmost power and force for incredibly demanding and challenging jobs. An industry pioneer for mining excavators with more than 100 years of experience across group companies, Hitachi EX8000-7 brings you advanced fuel optimisation technologies, state of the art safety features and a focus on easy maintenance and operation.
Weighing over 830 tonnes with a 43-48m3 bucket capacity, which can move 75 tonnes of dirt per bucket load, the flagship excavator comes with an option of a Cummins QSKTA60 or MTU 12V4000 C33 diesel charged engine, generating 2x 1,450 kW (2x 1,944 HP) at 1,800 rpm. With a front attachment design that prioritizes performance, the EX8000-7 achieves superior productivity and reliable digging power across different mining profiles.

Supporting Paediatric Healthcare in the Hunter Region
We’re thrilled to share that, through our partnership with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Hitachi recently made a donation to Muswellbrook Hospital’s Maternity Unit. A few of our team members, including Aaron, Seamus and Tynan, visited the hospital for the handover of a Jaundice Detector and learned about the important impact this piece of equipment will have on the local community.
The Maternity Unit team, guided by Lisa Buckley, explained how vital this new jaundice detector is. While births in the area are now planned at larger hospitals in Maitland and Newcastle, local mothers often have babies born slightly early to avoid travel risks. These babies have a higher chance of developing jaundice, so having a detector on-site ensures quick and effective monitoring right at Muswellbrook.
Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the donation, as equipment funding is a challenge, and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a crucial lifeline for these resources. This new equipment will be instrumental not only in the hospital but also for providing care in the community for families who can’t make regular hospital visits.
Together, we’re making a difference in the health and well-being of families in the Upper Hunter Valley.

This event, with over 160 students from nine Yorke Peninsula schools, provided an exciting platform for local students to explore potential careers in the industry.
Our team brought along the Hitachi Dump Truck Simulator and a ZX85-7 Excavator to give students a hands-on experience of working with industry-leading machinery. The students were thrilled to engage with these demonstrations, sparking curiosity and interest in the vast opportunities the construction and mining industries have to offer!
A huge thank you to Rex Minerals and the Hillside team for organizing such a fantastic event, and to all our partners who helped make this day memorable.
