Administration Manager, Emerald
What influenced you to join Hitachi?
In 2000, I was awarded business trainee of the year in Tasmania. From there, I worked in business and accounting roles. Up until a change of life circumstances took me to Darwin, where I started with Hitachi as Administration Manager in 2009. Four years later, I moved to Perth and managed admin for the western region before settling into my current role at Emerald, which has been the perfect place to raise daughters.
What personal attributes and opportunities have helped you succeed?
I have a love for policies, procedures, auditing and data which makes for the right mix for administration. I enjoy being the go-to person, and purposely revise policies to understand the business better. I also have a bachelor of science in human nutrition. In my role, I enjoy making things happen and helping the business run smoothly. I assist with all types of paperwork, HR, customer enquiries, WHS, QA and projects. Most of all, I enjoy helping others and working towards impactful causes. I get to know so many people in our Hitachi network and share information with them. It has been challenging, as each branch is so different to the next. However, I have had some great mentors and support of the Management Teams, which has allowed me to grow in my role. It is inspiring to watch Hitachi and its people grow.
Have you managed good work/life balance in your role?
I am fortunate to have been able to take up both maternity leave and study leave. I appreciated being able to return to my same role after maternity leave, which made the transition easier from being one person, to a mum of two children under 3 with a FIFO husband. Thanks to my managers, who also understood the challenges of parenting, I maintained a good work/life balance.
I have a love for policies, procedures, auditing and data which makes for the right mix for administration.
How would you describe your experience at Hitachi?
I love working for Hitachi. There are always different projects happening and different challenges with each day. Admin is a very diverse department, which is what keeps me interested and fulfilled. Getting involved in functions, field days and networking events has provided so many opportunities to get a broader sense of Hitachi’s overall business and makes me proud to be a part of the Hitachi family. I am proud of the many social engagement activities I have been a part of, which raise awareness towards important causes in healthcare and the community. Being a female in the construction and mining industry, brings a welcomed diverse element and outlook to each situation. I work hard, am treated equally in return and feel confident that I may be able to pursue other roles in the future.
What advice would you give to others interested to start a career in our industry?
My advice would be to find a mentor and learn from them. Be open minded, welcome challenge and change. Always take a step out and show what you can do, make suggestions, make acquaintances, find a positive perception and enjoy all that you do. If I had my time again, I may have liked to have been an apprentice and obtain trade skills. However, I do feel I am where I’m meant to be. Administration is the core of the business, and I’ve loved every minute of it. I have attended summits and experienced interactions with those who are grateful for our corporate donations and taken part in our community support activities. There are golden people in our organisation who make this company what it is.

At 11 am, we pause.
Two minutes to remember the men and women who served, those who never returned home, and those who carried their scars long after the guns fell silent.
Today, we honour their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedom they safeguarded.
Lest we forget.

We went for the scariest costume we could think of…🐾
Don’t worry, it’s just for Halloween.
We are excited to announce a significant milestone in our company’s journey.
For over 75 years, we have proudly served the construction and mining sectors, delivering reliable machinery, engineering excellence, and building lasting partnerships around the globe.
The construction and mining industries are entering a new era. The world demands faster, smarter, and more sustainable approaches to developing critical infrastructure and mining operations. All the while with fewer skilled operators, lower costs, and tighter deadlines. In this context, Hitachi Construction Machinery has chosen to reinvent itself, standing side by side with its customers and distribution partners to lead this transformation together.
As part of our ongoing evolution, Hitachi Construction Machinery will transition to our new company name – LANDCROS Corporation, effective April 2027.
This global rebrand signals the next phase of our company’s growth and commitment to our customers.
Evolving with purpose. Built on trust.
LANDCROS will continue as a Japanese company, with the heart of our research, development and manufacturing based in Japan. We retain all our existing capabilities across the globe and are set to strengthen them further by accelerating innovation, developing new technologies, and expanding our collaboration with key partners worldwide.
Our future name change marks our next chapter, but our focus remains where it’s always been — with you, our customers.
To our valued customers in Oceania and around the globe, rest assured that the people, products, support networks, and supply chains you depend on will remain unchanged. You can continue to rely on your current support team, branch network, and account representatives, all of whom will operate as usual.
