Hitachi Construction Machinery’s large range of excavators are world renowned for being the toughest excavators around, delivering outstanding level of performance, versatility and fuel efficiency. This is particularly true with the ZX38U-5 Hitachi mini excavator, where the smoothness, precision and reliability are required for highly specialised projects in construction, earthmoving and roadwork sites- all while keeping running costs low. Purchasing their first Hitachi excavator from Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd (HCA) in October 2021, the ZX38U-5 mini excavator came with added extras of rubber tracks and hydraulic quick hitch. The purchase has enabled Procoat Group to take on an increased workload, “the Hitachi excavator hasn’t stopped working, going from one job site to another across New South Wales with no issues at all,” commenting Marty Mielcarz, owner of Procoat Group.
Based in Sydney, Procoat Group specialises in highly detailed residential swimming pool builds along with drainage and site prep for the landscape of newly constructed properties. The compact design along with excellent controllability, makes the excavator ideal for safe operation in tight work areas.
Previously known to own and operate other branded machinery, Marty states that “reliability, fuel economy and service back up from HCA is part of the appeal of purchasing Hitachi equipment, as well as positive brand reviews and word of mouth from Hitachi operators on site led to the purchase”.
“the Hitachi excavator hasn’t stopped working, going from one job site to another across New South Wales with no issues at all,”
Starting the business six years ago, the company has a team of three full time contractors that work across NSW with plans to venture into Queensland. “We work on a variety of projects; residential, commercial and government so the requirement to deliver quality work on time and on budget is imperative to our business success,” Marty said. Interesting projects completed by the company include the Chimpanzees enclosure project at Taronga Zoo Sydney and bunker repairs at Twins Creek’s golf course.
“Marty and the team pride themselves on specialising in difficult and challenging jobs and we are pleased that Procoat Group have chosen Hitachi and look forward to supporting them into the future” commenting HCA Sales Representative Bryce Gibson.
At HCA; Safety is the highest priority embedding high safety standards across all globally Hitachi manufactured machinery where products are vigorously tested under critical operating conditions before unveiling out to market.
Like HCA, Procoat Group have a safety first philosophy centred on safe work practices no matter how busy the day gets. During busy periods, working long hour days along with weekend work is required to meet deadlines so a safety approach is vital to ensure contractors return home safely each and every night.
Marty is content with the dealings with Hitachi’s Sydney branch, applauding the efforts of Bryce Gibson and HCA Customer Support Representative George Paradisis as both go out of their way to assist when the need arises.
“It’s about the whole package, with many things contributing to the success of our Hitachi machinery.” Adds Marty.
Hitachi’s after-sales support is close at hand with five centralised HCA branches across New South Wales and a nationwide 24/7 customer support centre.

Even when the sun goes down, the work doesn’t stop.
Because projects don’t pause.
Deadlines don’t shift.
And performance doesn’t wait for sunrise.
Inside our remanufacturing facility, our team works around the clock to keep components rebuilt, machines running and customers moving.

This week we recognised and thanked the incredible women across our business.
From workshops and mine sites to branches and offices, the leadership, capability, energy and perspective they bring every day continues to shape the future of our company.
As Ray Kitic shares in this message, our commitment goes beyond recognition. We remain focused on strengthening the pathways and opportunities that support the growth and success of women across our organisation.
Celebrating International Women’s Day
Today we recognise International Women’s Day and celebrate the contributions of women across our business and the wider construction and mining industries.
From the workshop floor and mine sites to engineering, operations, and leadership, women continue to play an important role in shaping the future of our industry.
At Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia, we’re proud to work alongside talented women across our branches, supporting innovation, capability, and progress every day.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Six years in the Army.
Now a fourth-year apprentice in Toowoomba.
Taleisha didn’t come into the trades the traditional way. After serving in the Army, she began her apprenticeship elsewhere but felt she wasn’t getting the hands-on experience needed to properly build her skills.
That changed when she joined the team.
Today her weeks can include new builds in the workshop, site work at mines, or jobs at local quarries. She works on loaders and mining equipment, services machines, installs pumps and supports major builds — backed by formal OEM training and experienced technicians around her.
Like every apprentice, she has made mistakes. On one job she damaged a seal during installation. She reported it straight away. The team worked through what happened and how to correct it.
That is how competence is built.
Six months ago, she completed her first solo service on a customer machine. It was a small milestone, but an important one — proof of progress and trust earned.
No two days look the same. That is what she values most.
Her focus now is finishing her apprenticeship and continuing her career as a tradesperson long term.
This is what development looks like:
Experience. Accountability. Support.
And technicians who are built to last.
Building better roads with the right gear.
Sandridge Roads continues to invest in performance and reliability, adding two Hitachi ZX260LC-7 excavators and one Hitachi ZX85USB-7 to their fleet over the past 18 months.
Specialising in civil construction and road infrastructure, Sandridge Roads is known for delivering high-quality outcomes across residential and commercial projects. With machines designed for durability, efficiency and operator comfort, their Hitachi fleet is helping keep projects moving safely and productively.
We appreciate the continued partnership and trust in Hitachi equipment.
Here’s to many more kilometres of quality work ahead. 💪 🍊 💪
Out on site in Denman Prospect this overcast morning, supporting the team where it matters most.
Our Canberra crew dropped service parts to HCA fitter, currently backing up Proline Civils’ impressive (and impeccably clean 👌) Hitachi ZX260LC-7.
It’s all about keeping machines moving and projects on track. Reliable support, delivered on the ground.
A big thanks to Josh and the Proline Civils team for having us on site.
