Parts Manager – Muswellbrook

something different and a good challenge

What encouraged you to join Hitachi?

I was working casually as a primary school teacher but interested in seeking more permanent employment. The role of Service Administrator at Hitachi came along, which I thought it would be something different and a good challenge.

Was your first role a good starting point towards more opportunities?

Definitely, especially having previously worked in the industry or an office environment. I was able to develop my knowledge of the company and the industries in which it operates. I was grateful to work with some of our most experienced service employees and learn different areas of the department and how it fits into the big picture. After building some experience in the Service Team, I then took on another job opportunity in the Administration Department which gave me further insight into the day to day operations of the branch. During this time I was able to network with Admin Managers all over Australia and build working relationships with many of the Corporate Support Team. My latest promotion to Parts Manager has been another unexpected but welcomed change and challenge. I have the support, not only of my department and management group, but I have been able to connect with a whole new group of people within the business, Australia-wide.

How would you describe your career experience at Hitachi?

I never really knew how it was going to go when I first started. But I absolutely love working for Hitachi Construction Machinery, and am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way over the past eleven years. I have never once wished that I had stayed teaching. The journey is still continuing. I have seen many changes in the business and have been able to grow personally and professionally within a company that values its employees and their contributions.

Do you feel confident in your future at Hitachi?

I never imagined that I would have progressed this far. However, I am grateful for the opportunities which I have been given. I am confident in saying that the company is supportive of anyone that wants to develop professionally and expand their skills. Also, my family are a very big part of who I am and the reason I can do what I do. Being a full-time working mum is a big job, but having a husband who also works at Hitachi allows us to be a good family team with a supportive employer behind us.
