In Japanese Kanji characters (日立), Hitachi means Sunrise

At Hitachi, we believe in making peoples lives easier.

Built Tough

Humanising technology, global brand with a local presence

Our customers are at the heart of our machines. Our Built Tough video series explores and celebrates the diverse and rich stories behind the Orange Family.

Our customers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and locations across Australia, utilising Hitachi and Bell products in different applications whilst putting the reliability and productivity of our legacy to the test. We capture this relationship in a series of Built Tough episodes, showcasing our #Orangefamily.

From Savage River in Tasmania with Grange Resources, featuring the EX3600-6 mining excavator in the middle of a Tarkine Forest. Grange works very hard in maintaining the environment around them whilst operating a 50-year old iron-ore magnetite mine in a large open pit. The mine is renowned for innovation as being the first of its kind to run a slurry pipeline, generating 2.5 million tonnes of iron ore. Hitachi has been an integral part of developing their remote equipment range to improve the productivity of the mine over the past 8 years.

Over to the construction industry, women are increasingly becoming a force to reckon with taking on roles that have been notoriously male dominate. Meet Roxanne from Axle’s Earthmoving in Queensland, working as an operator on Hitachi equipment. She’s built her career on remaining level-headed and unnerved by the dynamic environment a construction site presents. Finding it a liberating and rewarding career path, she doesn’t mind some of the odd looks and is there to get the job done – she’s built tough!

Hitachi products are also widely used within the waste and recycling industry, with our customer BMI Resource Recovery operating a ZW730 wheel loader to assist their operations in helping reduce landfill and reuse products from construction sites. The loaders are vital in their responsibility to maintain the sites supply and demand with customers coming in and out of the yard.

Community Engagement

In an effort to build healthier communities, HCA support key charities: The Clontarf Foundation, Roy Hill Community Foundation, The Humpty Dumpty Foundation, and Mental Health and Cancer Awareness.

Our Community Engagement.

The Clontarf Foundation makes a difference to the lives of young indigenous boys across Australia living in negatively affected communities by offering positive experiences, aspirations and changing harmful cycles. Clontarf Academies provide mentoring opportunities to its students to improve discipline, life skills, self-esteem and education. Progress is gauged by the student’s choices and participation in the program elements and rewarded with experiences that lead to tangible outcomes. Hitachi is proud to sponsor and support Clontarf Foundation by engaging in our business through excursions, work experience, traineeships through to full-time employment, from the relationship, connecting students to participate meaningfully in society.

Roy Hill Community Foundation provides lasting outcomes for indigenous communities by delivering technology in medical care, better futures through education and mentoring, and supporting indigenous arts and culture. We are proud to share a great business mining partnership with Roy Hill in the Pilbara Region and extend our support to its indigenous communities.

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation provides a means for hospitals to receive much needed medical equipment to paediatric wards across Australia. Hitachi is proud to partner with Humpty and provides positive contributions to the communities in which we operate. Since 2012 we have been delighted to be in a position to be able to supply $100,000 of medical equipment annually to paediatric units nationally, in locations where our branches and employees operate nationally. Our longstanding partnership helps improve the lives and outcomes of children in hospital and their families.

Mental Health and Cancer Awareness are important factors in building healthier communities and encouraging early intervention. Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) supports foundations that minimise the population’s largest killers through medical research and programs for those affected. Through annual donations and community events, we are proud to support to help build awareness, education, and conversations around the importance of the resources, treatments, and support they offer.

Our Community Engagement

“Thank You, Hitachi.”

A special message from the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

Social Innovation

Powering Good

Social Innovation addresses the world’s social and environmental needs. It’s bigger than an individual or a company. Social Innovation requires businesses and the entire society to work together toward a common goal. At Hitachi, we collaborate with our partners to make what is “Good” for the world that it needs a reality. We believe the goal of Hitachi’s Social Innovation can be summed up with two simple words: Powering Good.

CREATING A SUSTAINABLE WORLD
The challenges around us can seem difficult to overcome. In the business economy, in the society, and in the environment. Even within a company, it presents us with these challenges. But when we come together and think on a global scale, we can create novel solutions to social problems. We can power good not just for this generation but for generations to come.

THE POWER BEHIND POWERING GOOD
By combining advanced Information Technology (IT) with Operational Technology (OT) and Products, our Social Innovation Business enables us to resolve issues faced by society and our partners for the betterment of all.

Supporting Paediatric Healthcare in the Hunter Region

We’re thrilled to share that, through our partnership with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Hitachi recently made a donation to Muswellbrook Hospital’s Maternity Unit. A few of our team members, including Aaron, Seamus and Tynan, visited the hospital for the handover of a Jaundice Detector and learned about the important impact this piece of equipment will have on the local community.

The Maternity Unit team, guided by Lisa Buckley, explained how vital this new jaundice detector is. While births in the area are now planned at larger hospitals in Maitland and Newcastle, local mothers often have babies born slightly early to avoid travel risks. These babies have a higher chance of developing jaundice, so having a detector on-site ensures quick and effective monitoring right at Muswellbrook.

Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the donation, as equipment funding is a challenge, and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a crucial lifeline for these resources. This new equipment will be instrumental not only in the hospital but also for providing care in the community for families who can’t make regular hospital visits.

Together, we’re making a difference in the health and well-being of families in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Hitachi Construction Machinery is proud to lead the way in sustainable mining technology, with the world's first engineless, full-battery rigid frame dump truck currently undergoing real-world testing at a mine site in Zambia. This milestone project significantly reduces emissions and delivers cleaner energy solutions for large-scale mining operations. 🌏🔋

Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of mining machinery!
