Hitachi Construction Machinery unveils new ZAXIS-7 compact excavators; ZX75US-7 and ZX85USB-7 to the Australian market.
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd (HCA) has unveiled two new ZAXIS-7 compact excavators designed to enhance productivity in contemporary urban construction sites. The ZX75US-7 boasts an ultra-short tail swing radius, enabling easy access to tight spaces, while the ZX85USB-7, equipped with a swing boom, efficiently excavates near walls and guard rails.
The power for these machines is derived from the reliable Yanmar diesel engines equipped with proven turbocharging technology. This environmentally friendly engine meets EPA final Tier 4/ EU Stage V emissions standards, with diesel particulate filter, EGR & common rail to help further reduce emissions. Also features a versatile power/economy work mode that adapts the machine’s performance to the specific task at hand. In power mode, the engine operates at higher speeds to deliver additional horsepower, when necessary, whereas the economy mode optimises fuel efficiency by reducing engine speed during regular operations.
Furthermore, both machines are equipped with a built-in auto-idle system, which automatically reduces the engine to an idling speed if all control levers remain in a neutral position for more than 4 seconds. Once the levers are reactivated, the engine quickly returns to the previously chosen speed. This feature not only helps in reducing noise and exhaust emissions but also plays a pivotal role in energy conservation and cost savings for operations.
Compact excavators are commonly used as tool carriers with a wide range of attachments that increase job-site versatility. For added convenience, there is an available attachment replacement support system that streamlines the process of switching between different work tools. This system allows for the adjustment of attachment flow settings directly from the low-reflective collar 8-inch LCD monitor, enabling operators to designate and save up to 12 unique settings.
The ZAXIS-7 series has been engineered to maximise operator productivity and comfort. Cab space has been significantly enlarged compared to previous generation. Designing cabs with panoramic visibility helps create a safe and comfortable working environment.
To further enhance safety and comfort, HCA goes the extra mile by incorporating the Aerial Angle peripheral vision camera system, which grants operators an extensive 270-degree bird’s-eye view of the machine’s surroundings. The inclusion of long-lasting LED ambient work lights on the left, right & rear of the machine, as opposed to halogen lights, ensures a prolonged operational lifespan and improved visibility in challenging conditions. These work lights even remain illuminated for 30 seconds after the machine is powered off, enhancing safety when disembarking from the cab during night-time operations. The addition of the wide view wiper, featuring a parallel link mechanism, increasing the window wiping area by 183% compared to the previous model.
HCA’s excavators are renowned for their exceptional durability, and the ZAXIS-7 series introduces improvements to crucial components, including the arm and boom. The enhancements involve minimising pinhole tolerances in the boom and arm, effectively reducing lateral movement or wobbling. Furthermore, the side plate thickness of the blade has been augmented to enhance its resilience against external impacts.
Ensuring ease of maintenance remains a top priority; a generously sized rear engine cover provides convenient access for maintenance tasks. The filters and the fuel/water separator have been thoughtfully grouped together in the pump room, making them easily accessible at ground level for inspection and replacement. Additionally, features like remote swing-circle lubrication, along with factory installed electric refuel pump have been incorporated to streamline daily maintenance procedures.
Using telematic tools to monitor machine health helps boost uptime. ConSite, which remotely monitors operational status and alerts owners and operators to upcoming maintenance needs, is making a leap forward. A new optional feature, ConSite OIL, monitors engine and hydraulic oil conditions to proactively catch issues before any fault codes are triggered in the machine. This helps drive uptime by catching oil degradation before damage to critical systems can occur. The ConSite response team is on standby to rapidly resolve issues as they emerge.

This week we recognised and thanked the incredible women across our business.
From workshops and mine sites to branches and offices, the leadership, capability, energy and perspective they bring every day continues to shape the future of our company.
As Ray Kitic shares in this message, our commitment goes beyond recognition. We remain focused on strengthening the pathways and opportunities that support the growth and success of women across our organisation.
Celebrating International Women’s Day
Today we recognise International Women’s Day and celebrate the contributions of women across our business and the wider construction and mining industries.
From the workshop floor and mine sites to engineering, operations, and leadership, women continue to play an important role in shaping the future of our industry.
At Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia, we’re proud to work alongside talented women across our branches, supporting innovation, capability, and progress every day.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Six years in the Army.
Now a fourth-year apprentice in Toowoomba.
Taleisha didn’t come into the trades the traditional way. After serving in the Army, she began her apprenticeship elsewhere but felt she wasn’t getting the hands-on experience needed to properly build her skills.
That changed when she joined the team.
Today her weeks can include new builds in the workshop, site work at mines, or jobs at local quarries. She works on loaders and mining equipment, services machines, installs pumps and supports major builds — backed by formal OEM training and experienced technicians around her.
Like every apprentice, she has made mistakes. On one job she damaged a seal during installation. She reported it straight away. The team worked through what happened and how to correct it.
That is how competence is built.
Six months ago, she completed her first solo service on a customer machine. It was a small milestone, but an important one — proof of progress and trust earned.
No two days look the same. That is what she values most.
Her focus now is finishing her apprenticeship and continuing her career as a tradesperson long term.
This is what development looks like:
Experience. Accountability. Support.
And technicians who are built to last.
Building better roads with the right gear.
Sandridge Roads continues to invest in performance and reliability, adding two Hitachi ZX260LC-7 excavators and one Hitachi ZX85USB-7 to their fleet over the past 18 months.
Specialising in civil construction and road infrastructure, Sandridge Roads is known for delivering high-quality outcomes across residential and commercial projects. With machines designed for durability, efficiency and operator comfort, their Hitachi fleet is helping keep projects moving safely and productively.
We appreciate the continued partnership and trust in Hitachi equipment.
Here’s to many more kilometres of quality work ahead. 💪 🍊 💪
Out on site in Denman Prospect this overcast morning, supporting the team where it matters most.
Our Canberra crew dropped service parts to HCA fitter, currently backing up Proline Civils’ impressive (and impeccably clean 👌) Hitachi ZX260LC-7.
It’s all about keeping machines moving and projects on track. Reliable support, delivered on the ground.
A big thanks to Josh and the Proline Civils team for having us on site.
