New Facility In Gunnedah

For several years, Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) and Whitehaven Coal have maintained a longstanding successful partnership in the Gunnedah region which only continues to strengthen, providing incentives for further investment in the region with the opening of a new Hitachi facility in Gunnedah earlier this year. In addition to supplying new machinery, Hitachi Gunnedah provides ongoing parts and service support to the growing population of mining equipment in the region and manages strong relationships not only with Whitehaven Coal but also other major customers and local industries. The Gunnedah facility signifies HCA’s commitment for long-term growth within the mining industry and regional New South Wales. Employees at Hitachi Gunnedah have also had their hard work recognised, being nominated for the Outstanding Supplier award as part of the NSW Mining Industry and Supplier Awards.

Grand Opening At Gunnedah HCA Branch

Hitachi Gunnedah’s parts and services manager Matthew Bradley said the branch was “certainly pleased” a member of the community had nominated them for the award.

“Everyone in the branch puts in as much as they can give to the [mining] industry and it’s something we’re all pretty passionate about.”

Mr Bradley and his team service about 90 pieces of machinery in the area, with Whitehaven’s Maules Creek coal mine owning about 65 of these.

NSW Minerals Council chief executive officer Stephen Galilee said the awards “acknowledge key contributors to the important role of mining in NSW”.

“The contributions made by our award finalists are critical to the ongoing pursuit of excellence in our industry and showcase some of the best our state mining sector has to offer,” Mr Galilee said.

NSW Minerals Council’s Stephen Galilee said that the awards highlighted the importance of mining in fostering growth in regional communities by providing jobs and investment.

“Our Industry and Suppliers’ Awards highlight the vital role mining plays in NSW, particularly the contribution our industry makes to regional communities. We had outstanding entries for the awards this year, reflecting the quality of our state’s world-class mining sector,” Mr Galilee said.

During the Gunnedah branch opening, the local community and customers enjoyed an afternoon viewing the machines on display and were welcomed with complimentary food and drinks.

HCA’s General Manager of Mining Eric Green says the business we continue ‘to invest in new facilities to show all mining and construction equipment customers that we want to continue our support for their current and planned new fleets of equipment’ he said.

From Trade Assistant to Apprentice Plant Mechanic 👏

At our Wacol branch, Nick is stepping into the next chapter of his journey.

Starting out as a Trade Assistant, Nick has now taken the leap into an Apprentice Plant Mechanic role - bringing hands-on experience, a strong work ethic, and a clear focus on safety.

For Nick, safety isn’t just a checklist. It’s about looking out for your team, doing the job properly, and making sure everyone goes home the way they arrived.

And he’s just getting started.

Nick is looking forward to getting up close with our mining equipment and continuing to build his skills alongside the team.

The future’s looking solid. 💪

Future legends loading… 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️🔥

Our Apprentices Induction Week was the perfect mix of learning, connection, and a bit of healthy competition.

From hands-on training with some of our best people, getting up close with our machinery, and insights from senior leaders — to go-karting (yes, there was a trophy 🏆), bowling, putt putt, laser tag, and a good old BBQ — it was all about setting our apprentices up for success while having some fun along the way.

We’re proud to welcome the next generation of talent to Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia and can’t wait to see where their journey takes them.

Welcome to the team 👏
