Clarke Diesel – Hitachi Sub-Dealer

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Australia) Pty Ltd (HCA) announced the appointment of Clarke Diesel as their sub-dealer in Queensland, with the responsibility for servicing the Far North Queensland region. Clarke Diesel provides sales, extensive after-sales parts and service support on the complete range of Hitachi construction equipment, supported by resident HCA construction equipment Sales Representative Dave Evered.

Clarke Diesel, owned by David Moreno and David Ward, are respected and longstanding members of the Cairns business community. Comprising a team of seventeen employees, their exceptional customer service and specialised industry knowledge caught the attention of HCA. Founded by Laurie Clarke in 1984 as a mechanical repair shop, the company has built a solid reputation for proficiency in passenger, commercial, earthmoving, and marine diesel engines within the automotive industry. David Moreno and David Ward began working for the business during their apprenticeships and eventually took ownership in 2010.

At a national level, HCA operates twenty-three dealerships, five of which are situated in Queensland, catering to the Brisbane, Toowoomba, Townsville, Emerald and Mackay regions, all of which are wholly owned by HCA. According to Matt Gibbs, HCA’s Townsville Branch Manager, “The appointment of a Hitachi sub-dealer in this area highlights HCA’s dedication to fulfilling the requirements of their customers, expanding their national presence and strengthening their visibility in the Far North Queensland region.”

As a globally recognised Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) committed to providing innovative and reliable solutions, HCA places a strong emphasis on customers and ensuring that they remain central to their operations. In line with this principle, the strategic decision was made to appoint Clarke Diesel as a sub-dealer, as they share the same values and are a trusted business that can be confidently entrusted with the Hitachi brand.

"The appointment of a Hitachi sub-dealer in this area highlights HCA’s dedication to fulfilling the requirements of their customers, expanding their national presence and strengthening their visibility in the Far North Queensland region."

Dave Evered, HCA Sales Representative, states, “From my first meeting with both the directors, David Moreno and David Ward, I have been welcomed in as part of the Clarke Diesel Family, not to understate the wording of “FAMILY” and this is just how they treat all of their customers. Superior customer service is paramount in Clarke Diesel’s business success, and I see this every time I enter the front office.”

HCA’s Townsville branch, in conjunction with Dave Evered, have established a robust working partnership with Clarke Diesel, aiming to maintain the continuity of their relationship by providing constant support and open communication. Clarke Diesel performs in-house equipment builds for all sales of mini-excavators and small wheel loaders in their region. Their investment in two new field service vehicles demonstrates their dedication to enhancing their service offerings and ensuring timely and efficient delivery of support to their customers. Dave Evered further adding, “Hitachi mid-sized excavators and wheel loaders have proven to be the popular choice among the people of this region.”

The future looks promising, as Clarke Diesel’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is evident in their approach to growing the Hitachi brand in FNQ. This approach goes perfectly with the values of HCA, which places a strong emphasis on nurturing positive relationships with their customers and continuously improving the quality of their services.

We’re thrilled to share that, through our partnership with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Hitachi recently made a donation to Muswellbrook Hospital’s Maternity Unit. A few of our team members, including Aaron, Seamus and Tynan, visited the hospital for the handover of a Jaundice Detector and learned about the important impact this piece of equipment will have on the local community.

The Maternity Unit team, guided by Lisa Buckley, explained how vital this new jaundice detector is. While births in the area are now planned at larger hospitals in Maitland and Newcastle, local mothers often have babies born slightly early to avoid travel risks. These babies have a higher chance of developing jaundice, so having a detector on-site ensures quick and effective monitoring right at Muswellbrook.

Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the donation, as equipment funding is a challenge, and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a crucial lifeline for these resources. This new equipment will be instrumental not only in the hospital but also for providing care in the community for families who can’t make regular hospital visits.

Together, we’re making a difference in the health and well-being of families in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Hitachi Construction Machinery is proud to lead the way in sustainable mining technology, with the world's first engineless, full-battery rigid frame dump truck currently undergoing real-world testing at a mine site in Zambia. This milestone project significantly reduces emissions and delivers cleaner energy solutions for large-scale mining operations. 🌏🔋

Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of mining machinery!
