Showcasing at AIMEX 2019

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) have made a return to the largest mining exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region for 2019. Mining is a significant focus for the company and will continue to be in coming years, Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX) allowed HCA to showcase key product and technological advances made in recent years. Across the three day event, there were approximately 5000 visitors which also included an additional 2000 exhibitor personnel across the 500 companies on display. Experts from across the broader Hitachi Group were present to talk everything from equipment to parts, fleet planning and technology, and ‘pit to port’ solutions. Hitachi Vantara Australia Pty Ltd, Hitachi Rail STS Australia Pty. Ltd., Bradken Pty Ltd, Sullair Australia Pty. Ltd. and HCA had representatives present to showcase the full breadth of integrated solutions from Hitachi and its partners. Visitors to Hitachi’s AIMEX stand were able to speak with specialists about the wide range of innovative earthmoving solutions available.

In July of 2018, HCA officially kicked off the release of the dash – 7 range of mining excavators engineered towards safety, productivity and connectivity. “Our offering in the mining sector is continually growing with the release of the EX1200-7 excavator in Perth last year, the EX2600-7 launch this year and EX5600-7 and EX3600-7 models in 2020,” says Eric Green, HCA’s General Manager of Mining Equipment Sales and Assembly.

LARGEST MINING EXHIBITION IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC REGION

A focus for the company and customers this year is the Hitachi Rigid Dump Trucks, with increased fleet numbers in Australia they continue to perform strongly. “The Hitachi RDTs are recognised for their outstanding reliability, productivity, fuel efficiency and overall reduced costs per tonne,” says Eric. Brand new ultra-lightweight dump bodies have recently been made available in Australia. “It’s great to see that there are now a number of these bodies in the field and clocking up production hours.”

HCA is the exclusive distributor of Wenco International Mining Systems throughout Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea. “Wenco Fleet Management System continues to grow with new owners within Australia utilising the Wenco mine and lite FMS products along with new equipment real time data and equipment health products available and in use.” said Eric. “It was great to chat with customers about how Wenco Fleet Management systems can improve safety, production and equipment lifetime all while decreasing cost.”

The Hitachi AIMEX stand featured four television displays, a coffee machine, two meeting pod rooms as well as giveaways for visitors. As guests walked into The Dome at Sydney Showground they were greeted by a Hitachi ZW370-5 wheel loader on display.

HCA hosted an AIMEX Dinner event on Monday the 26th of August at Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf. The event was held as a celebration of Hitachi’s valued customers, particularly those within the mining industry. Entertainment for the night was provided by The Rat Pak Reloaded who serenaded guests with show tunes. The evening was chaired by Vince Sorrenti with additional speeches made by Vice President, Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) Hideshi Fukumoto, HCA Managing Director David Harvey and Founder and Executive Chairman of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation Paul Francis OEM.

During his speech, which covered the role of Hitachi Group Companies in the mining sector and support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, David Harvey took the opportunity to thank HCA’s valued customers. “We greatly appreciate the confidence our customers have in our company and products and we will always continue to challenge ourselves to meet their expectations.”

On the night, a Bilisoft LED Phototherapy System, valued at $9,680 was purchased as a result of generous donations from guests. This phototherapy system will be delivered to Midwifery unit at Westmead Hospital and used to treat babies with jaundice. Statistics show 50% of full-term and 80% of pre-term babies experience jaundice in the first week of life, which if left undetected can cause cerebral palsy, deafness and/or brain damage.

Vince Sorrenti the MC for the evening delighted guests with his wicked sense of humour and frequent encouragement to contribute to such a worthy cause. As a result of guest speakers from Humpty Dumpty including Elizabeth Svoboda and Founder Paul Francis, the funds were raised within 2 hours to purchase the system.

Supporting Paediatric Healthcare in the Hunter Region

We’re thrilled to share that, through our partnership with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Hitachi recently made a donation to Muswellbrook Hospital’s Maternity Unit. A few of our team members, including Aaron, Seamus and Tynan, visited the hospital for the handover of a Jaundice Detector and learned about the important impact this piece of equipment will have on the local community.

The Maternity Unit team, guided by Lisa Buckley, explained how vital this new jaundice detector is. While births in the area are now planned at larger hospitals in Maitland and Newcastle, local mothers often have babies born slightly early to avoid travel risks. These babies have a higher chance of developing jaundice, so having a detector on-site ensures quick and effective monitoring right at Muswellbrook.

Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the donation, as equipment funding is a challenge, and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a crucial lifeline for these resources. This new equipment will be instrumental not only in the hospital but also for providing care in the community for families who can’t make regular hospital visits.

Together, we’re making a difference in the health and well-being of families in the Upper Hunter Valley.
Hitachi Construction Machinery is proud to lead the way in sustainable mining technology, with the world's first engineless, full-battery rigid frame dump truck currently undergoing real-world testing at a mine site in Zambia. This milestone project significantly reduces emissions and delivers cleaner energy solutions for large-scale mining operations. 🌏🔋

Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of mining machinery!
